Chiang Mai is secluded by an old walled city called “Kamp phang muang”, covered by a square-shaped city and surrounded by canal called “Khu muang” in native language. The old walled city was built in the year 1350. It is made up of hundreds of thousands pieces of bricks piled to create huge towering structure. There are five gates in each side of walled city. Each of them has specific name and magnificent history. One and probably the most famous gate is called “Thapae gate”.

The northern most province of Thailand, Chiang Rai is tourism gateway to Myanmar and Laos. It belongs to the so-called Golden Triangle, at which the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar converge. Is located on Thanon Thongchai mountain range. Its boundary covers Mae-tang district of Chiang-mai and Pai district of Mae Hong-sorn province. The total area is about 179.5 square kilometers or 112,187.5 rais. The main topography is high mountains composed of many ridges; the highest peak is Doi Chang. This national park is the source of headwaters for the nearby area. There are many big and small brooks in the forest, and in the winter season the temperature is very low and has strong winds. There’s much rain from May to October, and in the summer season the climate here is quite cool and the highest temperature is only 34 °C.
